Guest lecture on Career Counselling


On the 11th of August 2021, National Public School Rajajinagar hosted a guest lecture on "Career Counselling" on the Microsoft Teams platform for students of Grade 12. Ms. Devi Gopinath, the deputy secretary of the Indian government's ministry of external affairs; Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service, delivered the lecture.

Ms. Gopinath covered the Ministry of External Affairs in her lecture and gave an overview of the MEA's organisational structure. She also gave us a description of the Indian Embassy's structure, which was really helpful. The speaker gave an insight into the overall process of joining the Indian Foreign Service, as well as a number of reasons why students should consider joining the IFS.

Ms. Gopinath was very interactive with the students and the teachers present in the meeting. She answered questions regarding various aspects related to her job, post and the country's current global position as well. She signified the importance of being diplomatic and strategic as a IFS officer.

She also shared her views regarding choosing a career as an IAS officer and addressed the current Afghanistan situation very briefly to the students.

To sum up, it was a very informative and interesting session addressed by Ms. Gopinath, which gave students a very good exposure to the career option available in civil services.
