Diamonds Are Forever – Alumni Meet 2019

The morning of November 24, 2019 saw a total transformation of the NPS Rajajinagar grounds which was readied for the welcome and get-together of the alumni for a day full of fun, food and fellowship - to rejoice and revel in togetherness to celebrate the Glorious Diamond Anniversary Year since its inception in 1959, to reminisce and walk down memory lane.

Ex-NPSites started coming in droves from around 9:30 a.m., and amid greetings, hugs and loud cheering, communicated to all around how happy and proud they were to be back to their good old school! When they were finally coaxed to settle down under the well laid out, colourful shamianas, the customary lamp was lit by Dr. K P Gopalkrishna- Founder and Chairman NAFL, TISB and NPS Group of Institutions, Mrs. Santhamma Gopalkrishna- Co- Founder and Dean NAFL ,TISB and NPS Group of Institutions, Dr. Bindu Hari- Director NAFL,TISB and NPS Group of Institutions, Mrs. Sumitra Das- Mentor Principal, Ms. Malathy Narayan Principal Senior School and Ms Mini Jayan Principal Primary School, Rajajinagar.

Dr. Bindu Hari- an alumnus of the school, paid tribute to all her teachers and batch mates and recalled with fondness the happy times she spent at her alma mater. Mrs. Santhamma- visibly moved by the heartwarming response of the alumni, thanked each and every one for their presence, their warmth and good wishes. Dr. K P Gopalkrishna then addressed the gathering, in his distinct style, recalling the school’s history from its humble beginnings and thanking everyone concerned for helping take it to such great heights. He also urged more NPSites to take up teaching as a profession and help society shape the destinies of the youth.

Dr. B M Parthasarthy, Mr. Hari Doss and Ms. Adithi Komandur, alumni of the school, took everyone on a nostalgic trip down memory lane with their moving speeches.

A Documentary of NPS took the audience on a sojourn through the 60 glorious years.

An enthralling musical recital by the alumni Ambi Subramaniam, Vivek Sadasivam and Kaushik held the audience in raptures. A quiz on NPS trivia was conducted by Qshala co- founded by an alumnus of NPS which took the audience down memory lane.

During the sumptuous lunch, one could see so much chatting, rekindling of old acquaintances and friendships and picking up threads, meeting up with teachers and classmates - it was indeed a very over whelming sight! Batch-wise photographs were taken and all the ex-students were escorted on a school tour where they could recall and relive their memories. So much had changed in the past 60 years and yet so much was still the same!!

It was a touching sight to see ex-students along with Team NPS having a blast playing a friendly basket-ball match on the grounds.

Reluctantly, the old boys and girls left the gates of NPS in the late afternoon, with a promise of hosting many more such get-togethers in the near future while cherishing the great time they had at this DIAMOND JUBILEE Get Together.
