Climate change and Environment Quiz

The Divecha Centre for climate change, Indian Institute of science organized an Inter school Climate and Environment quiz on 9th January 2020, at J.N. Tata Auditorium to create awareness about related issues.

A team of 3 students from Gr 11 bagged the 1st position. The participants are Vartika T Rao, Samrudh H and Indraneel A Acharya. The winners were awarded with a trophy, a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 6000.

Brahm Prakash Memorial Materials Quiz

Indian Institute of Metals (Bangalore Chapter)
20th and 21st September 2019

The event was held in IIM Kalpakkam, near Madras Atomic Power Station. The students attended a ‘metal camp’ followed by a lecture on material sciences by Prof Amarendra, Director of IIM, Kalpakkam. The participants were then taken on a visit to Fast Breeder Test Reactor (FBTR) and Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS).

The students whose essays were shortlisted had a round of elocution based on their topic. 34 teams participated in the quiz; our team comprising Bharat Shankar and Ashutosh Bharadwaj of Grade 12 emerged winners.

Regional Brain Bee Competition 2019-20

The international Brain Bee Championship a competition on Neurosciences for students of Grade 11 is an attempt to motivate them to learn about the brain and inspire them to pursue careers in biomedical brain research or Medicine.

The contest is conducted at 3 levels first on a regional level subsequently at National level in participating countries and culminated at the international level testing on the topics pertaining to Neuroscience at post graduate standards right from basic brain facts, Neuro-anatomy, Patient diagnosis, Neuro-histology which comprises both written, oral and practical rounds.

It is conducted by the University of Maryland, US and International brain research organization. The regional level brain bee competition was held at Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bengaluru in the month of December, 2019. Keerthana Murali bagged the 1st position and Hrishikesh K Harithas bagged 3rd position. The winners were awarded with a trophy and a certificate.

Keerthana Murali will be representing Karnataka at the 13th Indian National Brain Bee championship to be held in the month of April, 2020.
